Obituary for Erving Honyotski Jr.

AT THE CASEY-O'DONNELL FAMILY FUNERAL HOME

WATERBURY- Erving Joseph Honyotski, Jr., 80, died peacefully, with his wife, Lois (Evon) at his side, on May 7, 2009 at St. Mary’s Hospital after a brief illness.

Mr. Honyotski was born on May 17, 1928 to the late Erving Sr. and Katherine (Schauster) Honyotski. He graduated from St. Mary’s School and Leavenworth High School ‘46. At 14, he began working at Imbimbo’s Dry Cleaning. During the Korean Conflict, he served in the army in Germany. He worked as an eyelet toolmaker at Scovill/Century/Rostra for 37 years and Cly-Del for 5 years. He was passionate about his trade and a true craftsman.

He was a proud father and adoring grandfather. His happiest times were spent at the dinner table surrounded by his family. He enjoyed UCONN, Yankee and Giants games, classical music, reading, BINGO and painting. He was a communicant of SS. Peter & Paul Church, serving as an usher and singing in their choir.

Besides his wife of 55 years, he is also survived by two sons, Steven of Dorchester, MA, and David, his wife, Ginny, of West Hartford; one daughter, Susan Gannon, her husband, Bob, of Colchester; nine grandchildren: Tara, Steven, Ryan, Moira, Thomas, Dan, Marissa, Andrew and Sean; and many extended family members. He is predeceased by his dear brother, Joseph, of Tewksbury, MA.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Edmund Caporaso, St. Mary’s ICU and VNA Hospice for the care and comfort provided during his illness.

Funeral service will be Tuesday, May 12th at SS. Peter & Paul Church, 67 Southmayd Rd., Waterbury at 10:30 am. Friends and family are to meet at the church. Calling hours will be Monday evening, May 11th, from 5-8pm at Casey-O’Donnell Family Funeral Home, 1581 East Main St., Waterbury.
